New Hope Enterprises is the only Atlanta-based affiliate of STRIVE, a nationally-recognized job readiness training program. STRIVE’s signature CORE attitudinal training model is a highly effective tool for rebuilding lives by successfully connecting people to gainful employment. Utilized throughout the United States and four overseas locations, the model is grounded in the notion that each individual must take “ownership” of his or her disposition in order to get – and keep – a job.

New Hope will integrate the STRIVE job readiness training as a requirement of every participant’s case-management plan. This training must be completed prior to the person’s participation in vocational job training programs. Based on STRIVE’s history of success, New Hope projects it will achieve a 70 percent job-placement rate, and the 70 – 80 percent
two-year job retention rate currently maintained by STRIVE’s affiliate programs.

STRIVE CORE+ Attitudinal (Soft Skills) and Job Readiness Training - CORE+ is a month-long, full-time workshop comprised of components needed to produce the individual transformation participants need to surmount the attitudinal and disciplinary rigors required to attain vocational training and/or a GED. A central element of the workshop is a “simulated work environment” from which participants can be dismissed, or “fired.” The program model is underpinned by a workshop principle that insists that people don’t “get fired” – they “fire” themselves. The six workshop components are:

  • Soft-skills training (the attitudinal/motivational component);
  • Job readiness;
  • Career development;
  • Computer skills training;
  • Customer service;
  • Civics.
